Applying for Affordable Housing in NYC
Want to apply for affordable housing but don’t know where to begin?
The Entertainment Community Fund (ECF) is thrilled to present this seminar, in partnership with NYFA’s Immigrant Artist Resource Center, to help participants get organized so they can be best prepared to take advantage of opportunities to apply. The seminar will be presented by Randy Peralta, Housing Specialist at ECF.
During this event, we will explain the application process in simple steps to help applicants avoid common mistakes and include resources. We’ll share information regarding assessing your income, eligibility criteria and documentation in order to address the specific needs of arts workers.
In addition to information about city-wide affordable housing, we’ll also share more about The Entertainment Community Fund housing for performing arts professionals. The following questions will be addressed:
- What is affordable housing and what are the different programs offered?
- How do you find and apply for affordable housing?
- What are the eligibility requirements (Income, household size, etc.)?
- How do the housing lotteries work?
- Can you get on a waiting list?
- How do you document your income if it fluctuates year to year?
- How can you best prepare yourself for an eligibility appointment?
- What are your options if you are denied?
